Coyotestar
Tom
52 Moons ~ 4.3 Years
Leader
Previously known as Coyotewhisker
Coyotestar is of a large boned frame. Perhaps in his younger moons he was more densely muscled but now he is what you would consider 'chubby'. His head is rounded in the jowls and his shoulders are wide, adding a mature handsomeness to the older tom. His fur is a bit on the frizzy side, though short. A coat is a light-tan to rusty-brown color laced with black tabby stripes. The tom has very little white save for a 'button' on his abdomen.

Coyotestar was born a runt in a litter of two and the only tom-kit of his parents, Owlstride and Sootfur. For the first few days of his existence, his mother worried about his survival but he soon out grew his sister, Crowkit, much to the relief of his parent and the other queens. In his early nursery moons, Coyotekit followed his sister into trouble more often than not, whether it be in the nursery or in the camp. If ever the two were spotted exiting the nursery, a passing warrior or elder would shuffle them back into the 'lair of the queens'.
As Coyotekit aged into Coyotepaw, he was given to a snarky she-warrior who from the very start lectured him on the warrior Code. And woe betide him if he ever got it wrong. As the moons passed, the young tom strengthened his senses and toned his body. He was strong and heavy for his age, giving him the upper hand when it came to sparring. Though his size did hinder his movement and caused his attacks and counter attacks to be slowed.
When he and his sister were reaching the end of their apprenticeship, Coyotepaw followed his litter-mate into yet another scheme. Deciding to chase a fox and its litter out of the clan's territory, the tom, his sister and two other apprentices wandered into the night not knowing what was waiting for them. The vixen appeared out of thin air and attacked the group with a mother's ferocity, and even a fox-kit joined the fight. It was over quickly, though, with one kit dead and the vixen retreating into her den. But Coyotepaw would never forget what happened.
He had grappled with the fox-kit while his sister and another apprentice fought off the vixen. The tom's size and strength helped him over come the younger-but-larger fox and, with a tight hold on its throat, killed it. For a second, Coyotepaw was filled with overwhelming pride and accomplishment at his victory, until his gaze fixed on the body of his only sister.
At Crowpaaw's death, Coyotepaw lost a bit of himself. When he was named Coyotewhisker, he felt as if he had betrayed her in some way. He blamed himself for her death, somehow it had to be his fault. The tabby warrior carried that guilt with him for the many moons he served his clan. And it was that guilt that had kept him from truly finding love or a mate. Yes, he contemplated taking one or two pretty she-cats as mates but he never loved anyone.
A senior warrior, Coyotewhisker watched as his clan and its neighbors turned against each other. Borders were forgotten, kits stolen, herbs destroyed, it seemed as though the warrior Code no longer held in the hearts of the clan cats. And Coyotewhisker was one of them. Filled with cowardice, the tom and a few other hid from the fighting. Some of the cats soon returned to their clans, while the others were slowly killed off by patrols. He and one other she-cat remained on the outskirts of the territories. The tom took one glance at the home and clan he had grown up in, had served with the utter most devotion, had even planned to die in, and ran.
Now named Coyotestar and leader of a nameless clan, the tabby tom lives out an uncertain life with the she-warrior Leafpelt. He hopes to one day return to Starclan's favor and be among them. Though his heart is full of doubt, grief, and disbelief.
